IN 200 WORDS OR LESS LIST YOUR POLITICAL/CIVIC EXPERIENCE AND POLITICAL ORGANIZATION MEMBERSHIPS:
My most relevant political experience is twelve years of elected office as a Westwego Alderman (1985-1993) and District Councilman (1997-2001). I have a reputation for no-nonsense good government. I now watch my grandchildren play sports in parks and fields that I helped to develop for the City of Westwego.
I have been a member of the Democratic Party since the sixties; I have worked in political campaigns as a volunteer since the seventies; I was a member of the Louisiana Municipal Association for 15 years.
I am a Retired life-long member of the Young Men's Business Club and served as President for 10 years. I am a lifetime member of the Volunteer Fire Department.
I am an active member of the Cornerstone Christian Center.
IN 500 WORDS OR LESS PLEASE DISCUSS WHICH RESPONSIBILITY OF THIS OFFICE YOU CONSIDER TO BE THE MOST IMPORTANT AND WHAT YOU PLAN TO DO TO MEET THAT RESPONSIBILITY?
The five most important points of my platform follow:
I will be available and responsive to constituents, citizens, organizations, and public officials.
I am dedicated to improving the quality of life, police and fire protection, EMS, senior services and recreation.
I will review city finances for maximum services at minimum taxes and fees.
I will remain a public servant who practices good government with common sense.
I will remain an elected official of action, integrity, and impartiality.
As a life long resident of Westwego, I am committed to preserving the quality of life enjoyed in our city. My experience shows that progress requires the united efforts of local, state, and national elected officials. Major services and improvements cannot be provided by Westwego funding alone. My experience offers proof that I work successfully in such united efforts.
I have kept the public trust; I have been deeply involved in Westwego civic affairs.
I will continue to be responsive to the constituents, citizens, organizations, and officials of Westwego. I will serve my District and my City by keeping the quality of life as my priority. I will continue to review city finances to provide maximum services for minimum taxes and fees. I will continue my policy of honesty, impartiality, and integrity.
If you know me at all, you know that my words and my work are the servants of the people who elect me.
My heart truly belongs to Westwego and to serving its common good. My head tells me that I can meet the challenges of the job because I have both the experience and the reputation of a no-nonsense elected official who gets the job done.
