All courts in Louisiana are in the jurisdiction of the Louisiana State court system. This includes all the courts that adjudicate local issues. The Orleans Parish District Court system is unlike other parishes in that the Civil and Criminal Courts operate separately. The Orleans District Court is the only one that is designated by a name and not by a number. The source for the judges' compensation is the Better Government Research study,Benchmarking the Bench, p. 20, September 2012. Based on 2012 data, the compensation includes the salary and benefits.
